  1. IconAuthor and Multimedia Devices

  4. Several vendors now offer multimedia solutions and IconAuthor
  5. supports them in a variety of ways.  IconAuthor supports multimedia devices
  6. in the following ways:
  7.  
  8. 1. Media Control Interface (MCI) - MCI is an interface for communicating
  9. with multimedia devices and files.  IconAuthor can interface with any MCI
  10. installed device through the MCI icon.
  11.  
  12. 2. Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) - OLE allows embedding and linking
  13. of data created from server applications to client applications.
  14. IconAuthor is an OLE client and OLE objects can be created in the Smart
  15. Object Editor and displayed atruntime.  Any device that is an OLE
  16. server can be supported in IconAuthor.

  18. 3. IconAuthor Supported Devices (Overlay, Video Players, Digital Video
  19. boards, etc) - IconAuthor provides drivers for a number of devices.  Having
  20. an IconAuthor driver allows the developer to use the Video icons that are
  21. integrated into IconAuthor.
